Arity is a technology company that uses data and insights to predict risk, increase safety, and maximize efficiency in transportation – through the Pouch Connect app that you and other drivers on your Auto Policy who enroll in Pouch Connect will download to your cell phones. To learn more, check out arity.com.
The Pouch Connect app can help you to better understand your driving habits and those of the other drivers listed on your Auto Policy who enroll in POUCH CONNECT. This can result in adjustments to your insurance premium based on driving behavior.
Pouch Connect can help you and other drivers on your Auto Policy who enroll in Pouch Connect improve driving behaviors which, in turn, can help improve safety and possibly lower your insurance premium.
Using the Pouch Connect application (app) that you and other drivers on the Auto Policy who enroll in Pouch Connect will download to your cell phones, you can:
Upon enrollment in Pouch Connect, an enrollment discount of up to 20% will be applied to your Auto Policy premium. Drivers must log at least one trip within 30 days of enrollment and at least 30 trips over the Auto Policy term.
Your driving score is based on several factors:
An evaluation of a driver’s relative miles driven within different risk periods throughout the day is performed. Drivers who avoid driving during the riskiest times of day will be able to achieve better driving scores. Risky times include:
Speeding represents distance driven at high speeds and is calculated as a percentage of miles captured above 80 miles per hour (MPH). Driving above this speed tends to lead to more frequent – and more severe – accidents. Drivers who maintain safer speeds (below 80 MPH) will be able to achieve better driving scores.
Sudden braking is captured when sensors detect a short period of rapid deceleration. Drivers can prevent sudden braking by maintaining a safe following distance behind other vehicles. Drivers who drive defensively to avoid situations requiring sudden braking will be able to achieve better driving scores.
Phone handling is a measure of how often a driver uses their phone while driving. The most distracted drivers have loss costs greater than 50% higher compared to the least distracted. Drivers who do not operate their phones while driving will be able to achieve better driving scores.
The driving score can only cause the premium to increase/decrease.
The driving behavior data collected when using the Pouch Connect app will be used to develop driving scores for insurance rating purposes.
Using phone motion sensors, Route Report can identify and correctly tag the mode of transportation a driver is using. This includes when a person is the driver or the passenger in a car, or if they’re traveling by train, bus, motorcycle, or other method of transportation. If you see that a trip was tagged incorrectly on your trips page, you can easily correct it by tapping the icon and updating the form of transportation as follows:
You can also change the mode of transportation from the Trip List using the same icon.
No. Pouch Connect is designed to run in the background and detects when a person is driving. You and the other drivers listed on your Auto Policy who enroll in Pouch Connect only need to drive like they normally would. Trips using a Bluetooth can also be tracked. Please note: Permission/location settings must be properly turned on to work correctly.
No. Pouch Connect records trips even if the app is not running. However, disabling location services, motion & fitness, and/or Background App Refresh for the app prevents Pouch Connect from recording trips. Depending how long these settings are disabled, your driving score and your premium may be affected.
While running in the background or during a trip in progress, Pouch Connect battery usage is similar to other navigation apps. Battery health, phone model, and cellular signal strength are also factors that may affect your battery performance.
